1. Getting Started
How do I create an account?
You can sign up using:
- Email + password
- Google
- Apple ID (iOS)
Email verification is required to unlock all features.
Is Kitab AI free?
Yes — the free tier offers essential features.
The Pro plan unlocks:
- Faster processing
- Higher file limits
- Unlimited uploads
- Deep search
- Priority OCR
2. Uploads & File Handling
You can upload:
- PDF
- Images (JPG, PNG, HEIC)
- TXT
Upcoming formats:
Is my content private?
Yes. All uploads are:
- Encrypted
- Private to your account
- Never used for training
- Not shared with any third party
File size limits
- Free: 25 MB per file
- Pro: 200 MB per file
3. Duplicate-Image Blocking
Why does Kitab AI block duplicate images?
To save space and improve clarity, Kitab AI uses:
- pHash (perceptual hashing)
- Image fingerprinting
- Similarity scoring
If an image is identical or almost identical to a previous upload, it is rejected.
Can I bypass this?
Duplicate detection cannot be disabled, but you can:
- Crop the image
- Resize it
- Upload a different version
4. Reader & Chat Features
What can I ask the AI?
You can:
- Summarize chapters
- Extract key ideas
- Generate flashcards
- Search across your books
- Compare sections
- Ask questions about the text
Example prompts:
Summarize chapter 3 in 3 bullet points.
- Extract key concepts from this section.
- Create 10 flashcards for my exam.
- What does the author mean by “bounded rationality”?
Why is processing slow sometimes?
Possible reasons:
- Large PDFs
- Many scanned pages
- Low-quality images
- High system load
Pro users receive priority processing.
5. Account Management
Reset password
Go to: Profile → Settings → Account → Reset Password.
A reset link will be emailed to you.
Delete account & data
Navigate to:
Profile → Settings → Privacy → Delete Account
This permanently removes:
- Your account
- All uploads
- All chats
- All metadata
This action cannot be undone.
6. Privacy & Security
Do you train on my data?
No.
Your content is never used for AI training or model improvement.
Where is user data stored?
Data is secured with:
- AES-256 encryption at rest
- TLS 1.3 encryption in transit
- Strict access controls
Can I export my data?
Yes — email support@kitabai.app to request an export.
7. Troubleshooting
Upload failures
Check:
- File size
- Internet connection
- Duplicate-image flag
- Unsupported formats
OCR issues
Improve text detection by:
- Uploading sharper scans
- Avoiding blurry or dark images
- Using 300 DPI or higher when scanning
App stuck or crashing?
Try:
- Force close the app
- Reopen the document
- Clear cache
- Reinstall the app (your data stays safe)

The Kitab AI pipeline includes:
- File preprocessing
- OCR
- Text segmentation
- Embedding generation
- Vector search
- Retrieval-augmented response generation (RAG)
